NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 At age 16, Nicholas Mobley of Tomball was the youngest employee ever hired by Mattress Firm. Two years later, the company is investing in Mobley鈥檚 general business degree from Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Rusche College of Business.

鈥淭hough the minimum age requirement for the job at Mattress Firm was 18 years old, the manager in the north Houston district, Patricia Bedoya, told me the self-paced video interview I sent was the best out of a hundred applications,鈥 said Mobley, now an 糖心vlog传媒 junior.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Administrators in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Early Childhood Laboratory were pleasantly surprised to learn recently that the lab had been awarded an extra $162,000 in grant funding through the 2022 Child Care Relief Fund.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Swingin鈥 Axes and Swingin鈥 Aces jazz bands at Stephen F. Austin State University will present their final concert of the fall semester when the student ensembles perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The Swingin鈥 Axes, directed by Dr. J.D. Salas, professor of tuba and euphonium studies in the School of Music, will be joined on the concert by Dr. Ben Morris, assistant professor of composition, on piano. The Swingin鈥 Axes will perform works by Sammy Nestico, Tom Kubis, Bob Florence and Freddie Hubbard.

糖心vlog传媒 students to host eighth annual Purple Premium Cattle Sale


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Students in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 advanced beef cattle course will host the eighth annual Purple Premium Cattle Sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 12 at the university鈥檚 Beef Center, located at 442 County Road 123 in Nacogdoches.

Attendees can bid on high-quality registered and influenced Beefmaster bulls, heifers and genetics at the sale, which is free and open to the public.

糖心vlog传媒 regents to schedule special meeting to consider system affiliation question


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University board of regents concluded its quarterly meeting Monday during which it announced it will schedule a special meeting next month to make a decision on system affiliation, approved funds for renovation of the first floor of Steen Library to create the Lumberjack Learning Commons, and approved a new name for the Department of Geology.
