Comparison of Julius Caesar, George Washington subject of 糖心vlog传媒 Department of History presentation


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Dr. Brook Poston, associate professor in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Department of History, will host a presentation titled 鈥淕eorge Washington and Julius Caesar: Parallel Lives鈥 at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in Dugas Liberal Arts North, Room 102. 

The talk will explore a comparison of Julius Caesar, the famed military and political leader of ancient Rome, and George Washington, United States military officer and first U.S. president. 

糖心vlog传媒 Gardens鈥 Lecture Series to feature talk on growing Mediterranean plants


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University's 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St.

Dr. Francisco Javier de la Mota will be presenting 鈥淎 Path to Successfully Growing Mediterranean Plants in Southeast Texas." De la Mota joined the Houston Botanic Garden as director of horticulture in May 2021 where he oversees the horticultural operations and staff on the 132-acre botanic garden.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Children鈥檚 Performing Arts Series at Stephen F. Austin State University will present 鈥淭he New Little Red Riding Hood鈥 in three performances on Thursday, Nov. 10, in Kennedy Auditorium on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 trombone ensembles to perform works by Nehlybel, Arbiza


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Trombone Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a mixture of choir, octet and quartet performances in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Directed by Dr. Deb Scott, professor of trombone in the School of Music, and Luke Vacca, adjunct professor of low brass, the choir will perform 鈥淭ower Music鈥 by Vaclav Nehlybel, and a trombone octet will perform 鈥淚carus鈥 by Uruguayan musician Ricardo Arbiza, among other works.

糖心vlog传媒 Gardens to host annual holiday wreath-making event


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host its annual Deck the Halls: Using Evergreens to Decorate for the Holidays seminar from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 3 at the Brundrett Conservation Education Building in the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, located at 2900 Raguet St. 
 

糖心vlog传媒 Music Prep students qualify for All-Region orchestras


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Twelve students in the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music were selected for TMEA All-Region High School Orchestra and Middle School Orchestra at recent auditions at Kilgore Middle School.

A total of 103 middle school students and 88 high school students from across East Texas auditioned.

糖心vlog传媒 to present fall Danceworks concerts


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The School of Theatre and Dance at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the fall student-choreographed and student-produced Danceworks concerts Nov. 10 through 12 in the Lucille Norton HPE Complex on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The Danceworks concerts are choreographed by senior dance students majoring in dance education or performance and choreography, according to Heather Samuelson, 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 dance program director.

糖心vlog传媒 Homecoming events kick off next week


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University has a full slate of events scheduled for Homecoming 2022, including a concert, a parade and an alumni auction, in addition to the football game against Utah Tech University at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at Homer Bryce Stadium.

The fun is already underway with the 糖心vlog传媒 Alumni Association鈥檚 online Homecoming Auction 2022. Through Oct. 30, participants can bid on items ranging from donated homemade 糖心vlog传媒 keepsakes to exotic vacation getaways. All proceeds go toward 糖心vlog传媒 Alumni Association student and alumni programming.

SRT student ensembles to perform at Mill Room


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Student ensembles in the Sound Recording Technology program at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Mill Room at Banita Creek Hall.
