NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 A performance of Modest Mussorgsky鈥檚 鈥淧ictures at an Exhibition鈥 will be the highlight at a concert of the Stephen F. Austin State University Symphony Orchestra when the ensemble performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, in Cole Concert Hall on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

Conducting the 糖心vlog传媒 Symphony Orchestra is Dr. Gregory Grabowski, director of orchestral activities for the university. He describes 鈥淧ictures at an Exhibition鈥 as 鈥渁 wonderful suite that takes the listener on a journey through an exhibition of different pieces of art.鈥

Still time to bid on 12 X 12 works of art


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 There is still time to bid on unique works of art in the 12 X 12 Scholarship Fundraiser hosted by the Friends of the Visual Arts at Stephen F. Austin State University and benefiting students in the 糖心vlog传媒 School of Art.

Anyone may silently bid on the exclusive one-of-a-kind pieces on display at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Brandon Nance, a Stephen F. Austin State University junior forestry major within the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture, recently participated in Honor Flight San Diego, escorting military veterans to Washington, D.C., to tour memorials honoring their service.  
 
Honor Flight San Diego is a nonprofit branch of the nationwide Honor Flight Network, which provides veterans who served during World War II through the Vietnam War with an all-expenses-paid trip to tour the nation鈥檚 war memorials.

糖心vlog传媒 students to host fourth annual plant fair on campus featuring winter annuals


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Students involved in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 horticulture program will host the fourth annual Fall Plant Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at The Plantery, located at 1924 Wilson Drive.
 
Plants available for purchase include a variety of winter annuals, such as pansies, violas, wallflowers, dianthus, stock, dusty miller and snapdragons. All are winter hardy and perform well in East Texas. Plants are $2 per pot or $36 for a tray of 18 plants. 
 

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 A Cappella Choir to perform Durufl茅鈥檚 Requiem


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The A Cappella Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present Maurice Durufl茅鈥檚 Requiem when the choir performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches.

The A Cappella Choir is conducted by Dr. Michael Murphy, director of choral activities at 糖心vlog传媒. Also performing on Requiem are music faculty members Weston Jennings, organ, and Dr. Scott LaGraff, baritone.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs to host inaugural Men鈥檚 Empowerment Summit


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Office of Multicultural Affairs will host the inaugural Men鈥檚 Empowerment Summit from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 28 beginning in the Baker Pattillo Student Center Grand Ballroom.
 
Incorporating the theme 鈥淟egacy in Leadership,鈥 the summit seeks to ensure men understand the legacy their leadership can have in their respective communities and strive to use leadership roles to effect positive change. Topics will include entrepreneurship, mentorship, and health and wellness.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre and Dance will present the student-directed 鈥30 Neo-Futurist Plays from Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind (30 Plays in 60 Minutes)" by Greg Allen at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in Regents Suite A in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
