Andrew this year鈥檚 featured 12 X 12 artist


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Works by Stephen F. Austin State University Professor of Art Peter Andrew will be among the pieces available for purchase in the upcoming 12 X 12 Art Scholarship Fundraiser presented by the Friends of the Visual Arts at 糖心vlog传媒.

This year鈥檚 12 X 12 Art Party and Auction is slated for 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches. Silent bidding on the pieces will take place Oct. 8 through 22, leading up to the Saturday night festivities.

糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 Wind Ensemble to present 鈥楢merican Steampunk鈥


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Wind Ensemble at Stephen F. Austin State University will present the program 鈥淎merican Steampunk鈥 in its first concert of the 2022-23 season. Featuring music by American composers, the concert is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Cole Concert Hall, Wright Music Building, on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.

The four-movement work 鈥淪teampunk Suite鈥 by Wisconsin composer Erika Svanoe is a program highlight, according to Dr. Tamey Anglley, director of bands at 糖心vlog传媒 and director of the Wind Ensemble.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Three students in Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Rusche College of Business placed in competitions held during the Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference at the end of June in Chicago.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University is celebrating White Cane Safety Day and the 50th anniversary of its orientation and mobility certification preparation program with an Oct. 17 rally and march.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Stephen F. Austin State University's 糖心vlog传媒 Gardens will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center. 

Dr. Kathryn "Kiki" Fontenot, an associate professor and vegetable extension specialist at the Louisiana State University AgCenter, will present "Containing Edibles to Maximize Your Garden's Beauty and Yields."

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥撯 Stephen F. Austin State University鈥檚 Police Department will host a National Night Out celebration from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the turnaround in Parking Lot 3, located in front of the Lehmann Chemistry Building and Kennedy Auditorium on 糖心vlog传媒鈥檚 campus.

糖心vlog传媒 student receives Tony Houseman Conservation Legacy Award


NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 Amber Borel, a sophomore forestry major at Stephen F. Austin State University, was awarded the 2022 Tony Houseman Conservation Legacy Award, recognizing her service to others and dedication to advancing the field of conservation.

The annual award, presented by Higher Calling Wildlife, a conservation-based publication, celebrates the legacy of Tony Houseman, an East Texas businessman known for his philanthropy and wildlife conservation advocacy.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas 鈥 The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre and Dance will present the student-directed one-act play 鈥淓urydice鈥 by Sarah Ruhl at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in Regents Suite A in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the 糖心vlog传媒 campus.
